Mass. c.1900. A lovely, bright, gilt decorated commemorative creamer
featuring a large, detailed, clear b/w image of the old twin Chatham
lights on Cape Cod. The superb piece measures 3 ¾” high and is enhanced by a
beautiful decorative gilt trim on the handle and on the rim. The unusually
detailed image includes all aspects of the two early stone light towers and the
1 ½ story keeper's dwelling. Labeled "Made in

(souvenir dish) MONOMOY LIFE SAVERS AT WYCHMERE
HARWICHPORT, MASS. c.1900. Superb commemorative heart-shaped dish
bears a detailed b/w image of the Monomoy life savers standing up, posing as
they arrive in their surfboat. Commemorative pieces featuring Life Saving
Service images from the Monomoy area of Cape Cod are extremely rare and
desirable and we have been only able to find a few in our career. This is
certainly one of the nicer pieces yet found. Extremely attractive dish measures
5” in diameter. Large b/w image is extremely detailed right down to the facial

10276. (souvenir dish) Wreck of the Glendon. Hampton, Beach, NH. c.1900. Lovely gilt decorated oval dish measures 6” in diameter. Featured in the center is a detailed b/w image of the three-masted vessel breaking up on the beach in February 1896. Backmarked “Made in Austria for Chas. Emerson & Sons Importers, Haverhill, Mass. U.S.A.” Clean, no cracks or checks, some, a very detailed, pretty little item for your display, attractive presentation. (VG+). $124.
21494b. (souvenir pitcher) c.1898 A superb, large, striking emerald green commemorative vase featuring a beautiful, detailed full color image of “Cape Henlopen Lighthouse” in Delaware. The beautiful piece measures 4 ¼” high and is enhanced by a beautiful decorative gilt trim and ornate handle on one side. Bulbous base of the vase sweeps upward into a bold upper rim, making this a most attractive piece. This item bears a fine, full color, close image of the tall masonry tower which would soon collapse into the sea. Very clean, no cracks, light wear near rim. A very detailed, striking item for your display and quite rare lighthouse piece. (VG+). $78.
2049c. (souvenir spoon) “Gratiot Light [House] Port Huron, Mich.” c.1900. This bright, beautiful piece features a detailed scene of the lighthouse, ships, a bridge, a tree, and “Gratiot Light Port Huron, Mich.” on the bowl with an open, woven lattice pattern handle. Construction began on the original light house in 1823, and its replacement was fully automated in 1933. The exact age of this spoon is undetermined, but presumably it was purchased before 1933. The hallmark is the letters P & B in the center of each of three hearts for the silversmiths Paye & Baker of North Attleboro, MA, ~1901-1960. This firm was known for manufacturing souvenir spoons, sterling flatware, jewelry, and mesh purses. Spoon is 5” long, and the condition is excellent. This piece is exceptionally nice. (F-) $58.

Most desirable piece features the Cahoon Hollow Life Saving Station in Wellfleet, Mass. on a bold 5 5/8” diameter dish. This early piece is quite striking and is enhanced by a fluted surface decoration with gilt border. Marked Made in England for Mrs. E. B. Ryder, Wellfleet, Mass.”. 1094. (souvenir creamer) U. S. Life-Saving Station, North Scituate, Mass. c.1900. Lovely gilt decorated bright white round creamer featuring a large, detailed full color image of the early Bibb #2 Type life saving station on the beach at North Scituate, Massachusetts. Backmarked “Made in Germany for M. G. Seaverns & Co., North Scituate, Mass.” Beautifully decorated with flowers framing the image and gilt highlights and borders. Clean, no cracks or checks, a very detailed, unusual presentation with bright image for your display. A large, striking piece. (F-). $118.
10103. (souvenir dish) Peaked Hill Bar Life Saving Station, Provincetown, Mass c.1898. Unusual large souvenir glass dish features a large 3 ¾” original albumen photo of the Peaked Hill Bar Life-Saving station affixed to the base, visible through the glass. The Peaked Hill Bar station was an expanded Red House-type station. This was one of the original nine stations which were erected on Cape Cod in 1872. The first keeper, David H. Atkins, was appointed in 1872 at the age of 34, with 22 years experience as a surfman. On November 30, 1880, Keeper Atkins and two of his crew died trying to assist the sloop C. E. Trumbull with a cargo of coal for ballast and a crew of six, when she stranded in a violent northwest gale on the outer bar in the neighborhood of the station. Plate measures 7 ½” in diameter including painted decorated edge detail. Some moisture to image but still quite clear and detailed. (VG-). $74.

[Victorian commemorative covered box] Most attractive, rare wooden Victorian covered wooden shot glass container features a beautiful b/w lithograph of the “Bishop’s & Clerks Light, Hyannis, Mass." c.1900. A pretty little piece, the box is of hardwood, varnished and measures 3 ¼”h by 2 5/8” top diameter, tapering to a base of 2” diameter. Box has a removable round top which is enhanced by a decorative rim. The pretty image measures about 1 ¾” oval and shows the tall granite light tower and entranceway, as well as the unusual fog bell tower on the rocky shoal. Inside the box was once a fine shot glass. Such wooden Victorian era commemorative pieces, known as Mauchlineware, are exceptionally difficult to find and are quite pretty for display. Clean, very little wear. Most Rare! $188.
1034. (souvenir spoon) c.1900. Charming commemorative spoon bears a lovely engraved image of the early Three “Sisters” lighthouses on Cape Cod’s Nauset Beach in Eastham. This beautiful old sterling silver souvenir spoon dates to about 1900, featuring on the handle in a very nice pattern. In the bowl it has most expertly hand engraved sea shore view with a cliff, keeper’s house and the three wooden light towers. Engraved is “Nauset Lights, Cape Cod”. This rare piece measures 5 ¼” long and is in excellent condition. On the back marked “D” for William B. Durgin Co. and “STERLING”. A nicely detailed commemorative piece and an extremely rare location. (VG+). $185.

(souvenir shell dish) c.1900. “Owl’s Head [Light House, Rockland], Me.” A bold, detailed commemorative dish in a shell configuration featuring a bright full color hand painted period image of the masonry lighthouse perched high on the headland guarding Rockland harbor on the south. The superb piece is shell shaped, with upturned fluted sides, and measures 4 ½” in diameter and is enhanced by a decorative gilt trim on the rim. Marked “Made in Germany.” Clean, no cracks or checks, light wear to rim, a very detailed, pretty little item for your display. (VG+). $58.

(souvenir cup/saucer) Negro Island Light House, Camden,
Maine. c.1898. A bright, gilt decorated commemorative cup with saucer
in a tortoise shell finish, features a large, detailed, clear full color image
of the masonry lighthouse on Maine’s Negro Island. Camden Harbor is finely
locked in between two jutting points of land, one high, the other low, with a
pretty little wooded island deftly dropped in at the entrance long known as
Negro Island. The name of the island was changed to Curtis Island in 1934. The
superb, large cup measures 3” high with a matching 6” diameter saucer,
and is enhanced by a beautiful decorative gilt trim around the image and
on the handle and on the rim. Not marked, dating it before 1898. Very clean, no
cracks or checks, little if any wear. A very detailed, pretty little item for
your display.

A bright, gilt decorated commemorative cup with saucer in white, features a large, detailed, clear b/w image of the high light tower at Owls head, looking up from the harbor. This superb piece measures 3 in diameter, with a 5” saucer, and is brightly decorated with a gilt decorated rim and boarders. Not marked, pre 1900. Very clean, no cracks or checks, little if any wear to image, light wear to gilding on rim. A very detailed, pretty little item for your display, unusually attractive early piece. (VG+). $88

8193. (souvenir tile) Pilgrim Monument, Provincetown, Mass. c. 1907. Lovely Wedgwood souvenir tile featuring a large detailed image of the new Pilgrim monument erected in Provincetown. Tile is in a wonderful cobalt blue with the corners decorated by flowers. The tile measures 6” square and has a detailed description printed on the back. Marked “Made in England for H. F. Hopkins, Provincetown, Mass. This was probably made in 1906 or 1907 and sold in town in 1907 when President Taft dedicated the completed monument. Lovely piece, a few closed age cracks and a bit of crazing. Extremely rare. (VG-). $55.

The detailed image includes all aspects of the lighthouse, keeper’s house and adjacent neighborhood. Saucer is matching and measures 3 7/8” in diameter. A pretty piece, the box is of hardwood, varnished and measures 3 3/8” x 2 3/8” x 1 ¾” h. The pretty image measures about 2 ½” oval and shows the tall light tower with attached keeper’s dwellings and adjacent buildings. The box has a nicely hinges cover with a brass latch. Such wooden Victorian era commemorative pieces, known as Mauchlineware, are exceptionally difficult to find and are quite pretty for display. Clean, little if any wear, only one slight mark on cover. 2054. [paperweight] Heavy glass paperweight featuring an early c.1890 photograph of "Life-Saving Station, Salisbury Beach, Mass." This rare item features a nice detailed sepia photo image of the Keeper and crew posed on the boat-ramp with their beach apparatus cart and surfboat. The crew is poised with the pull ropes over their shoulder while their pet dog sits faithfully at their feet. Quite rare early Life-Saving Service image and collectible, clear, crisp. Paperweight measures 4" x 2 ¾" x 1"h. (VG+). $168 net.

29108. (commemorative spoon) c.1900. Beautiful bold commemorative spoon bears a detailed engraved image of the U.S. Life Saving Station, South Haven, Michigan. The spoon is decorated in a gold wash and features a highly-detailed engraved image of the Bibb #3-Type station built in 1887 and boat ramp, with their surfboat in the foreground. The spoon measures 5 7/8” long with decorated handle and is in marvelous overall condition for its age, with surprisingly little surface wear. The gold washed bowl is enhanced by the bold handle decorated in raised relief. Nicely detailed commemorative piece and an extremely rare and desirable location, commemorating this interesting early life-saving station. Marked sterling. (VG+). $98 net.

Superb, rare wooden Victorian covered box features a beautiful b/w lithograph of the “U.S. Life Saving Station, Salisbury Beach, Mass”. A pretty piece, the box is of hardwood, varnished and measures 3 3/8” x 4 ¼” x 2 ¼” h. The pretty image measures about 1 ½” oval and shows the tall Duluth-type station that was constructed in 1897, with the added lookout tower on the beach in front of the station. The box has a nicely hinges cover with a brass latch, and inside has been lined with a fine purple felt to protect your valuables. Such wooden Victorian era commemorative pieces, known as Mauchlineware, are exceptionally difficult to find and are quite pretty for display. Clean, some minor light wear and a few light scratches. 21207i. [commemorative plate] An exceptionally rare, bright, gilt decorated and edged commemorative plate featuring a large clear, detailed color image of the “Lighthouse, Newport, Oregon.” c. 1900. One of only a few of this light that I have had, this fairly large plate has a large 3” full color image of the tall masonry light tower beside the 2-story keeper’s dwelling, barn and out-buildings. This detailed image shows the light tower and buildings the ocean in the background. This pretty display piece measures 7 ½” in diameter and is enhanced by a wide decorative gilded and decorated edge. Nice bright, detailed image reminds one of a painting. Marked “Made in Germany.”. One of only a few of this light that I have had, this unusual piece has a large 2 ½” color image of the light on the tall rock island. This pretty display piece measures 6 ¼” wide and is enhanced by a decorative gilded and decorated edge. Marked “Made in Germany [for] John G. Niemi, Astoria, Oregon.”. Ashore at Point Pleasant, NJ. c.1900.
Rare shipwreck souvenir china piece features a large, beautiful clear, detailed
image of the ship “County of Edinburgh” ashore. The British ship County of
Edinburgh went ashore in a dense fog at about 10 o'clock at night on February
13, 1900 close to Manasquan Life Saving Station, on the Jersey coast, near Point
Pleasant. The vessel drove on hard and fast and the life-saving crew deemed it
best to remove the crew. Word was sent to the men at the Point Pleasant station,
who hurried to aid the Manasquan crew. As it was impossible to launch the
surfboat, a breeches buoy line was soon rigged and the crew removed. The superb,
bright, floral decorated plate is quite rare and is one of the most attractive
that I have had. This pretty display piece measures 8 3/8” in diameter and is
enhanced by a decorative flowered border around the edge. Back marked
“Wheelock China Made in Austria Vienna for Point Pleasant Hdwr. Co.,
Point Pleasant, N. J. Clean and bright, no cracks or chips, fine large detailed

The square, two-story wood-framed keeper’s residence was built in 1871, featuring a mansard roof with the tower and lantern rising from the center front of the house. [paperweight] Grace Darling Commemorative paperweight
c.1900. Heavy glass rectangular paperweight featuring an early
engraved image of British Heroine Grace Darling. The daughter of a lighthouse
keeper, Darling grew up on Longstone in the Farne
Islands. Grace become the focus of national attention after the steamship
Forfarshire sank during a severe storm in September 1838. Nine people managed to
find refuge on nearby rocks, and Darling and her father battled rough water to
row to their rescue. The incident inspired numerous poems, paintings, and songs
and made Darling a virtual cult figure. This rare item features a detailed early
image of the lovely heroine, with a lengthy description printed on the bottom by
The Shipwrecked Fisherman and Mariners Royal Benevolent Society. This may have
been given in receipt for donations to the society. Very nice condition, clean,

paperweight featuring an early c.1900 photograph of Bishop
and Clerk Light House, Hyannis, Mass. This rare item features a close
photograph of the unusual offshore masonry light tower with attached fog bell
tower as a visitor lands by sailboat. Built in the 1850’s, the lighthouse was
a dramatic 65-foot tower standing in open water. It was fitted with a
fourth-order Fresnel lens, with an automatic fog bell, operated by a clockwork
mechanism. Photo remains clear and sharp, overall in excellent condition, some

b/w image of “Nobska Lighthouse, Woods Hole, Mass.”
Prominent Nobska Point was an ideal place for a lighthouse and in 1828 the first
lighthouse was built. Butter pat features a large b/w image of the later iron
light tower with keeper’s dwelling behind. Today, the charming Victorian
dwelling is home to Commander of U.S. Coast Guard Group Woods Hole. Marked
“Made in Germany for S. I. Snow, Woods Hole, Mass.” Dish measures 3 ½” in
diameter and is enhanced by a decorative gilded rim. This is a wonderful,
early commemorative piece and is one of the few Nobska lighthouse pieces that I

at Mackinaw City, Michigan. This early piece is quite charming and
enhanced by a large gilt decorated area around the image and on the handle.
Attractive cup features a detailed full color image of the lighthouse and
keeper’s dwelling. Erected in 1892, the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse served
as a beacon of safety in the Straits for more than 60 years. The castle-like
structure, whose design is unique in the Great Lakes, has today been restored to
its 1910 appearance. The cup measures 2 ¾” high and is marked “Made in

that I have found, featuring a very pretty and quite detailed full color image
of this tall masonry tower, with the keeper’s dwelling and fog signal building
perched on the rocky point. The creamer is of a classic style, enhanced by a
short spout and handle on top with a very pretty gilt borders and trim. Marked
“Made in Germany for J. R. Libby Co., Portland, Maine.” This beautiful
collector’s piece measures 5” high x 3” in diameter. This is a
wonderful, early commemorative piece, clean and bright, striking. With slight

a full color image of the “Hockomock Head, Swans
Island, Lighthouse, Maine” c.1900. To mark the entrance to Burnt
Coat Harbor, a light station was established on the promontory called Hockamock
Head in 1872. Two towers were erected to serve as range lights. In 1884, after
numerous complaints that the range lights were confusing, the front light was
discontinued, leaving the present tower standing. Creamer features a beautifully
colored though distant image of the square masonry light tower with attached
keeper’s dwelling. Marked “Made in Germany for S. J. Morse, Swans Island,
Maine.” Creamer measures 3 ¾” high and is enhanced by a stunning
decorative gilded rim. This is a wonderful, early commemorative piece and

lighthouse was constructed between 1852 and 1854, along with a new keeper’s
dwelling. The stone tower is 133 feet high -- the tallest lighthouse in New
England. The plate is a lovely crème color, with gilt decoration around the

Beautiful large commemorative spoon bears a detailed engraved image of the Light
House at Pulaski, New York. The spoon is engraved “1900” and
features a highly-detailed engraved image of the striking stone keeper’s
dwelling with the rooftop lantern room. The Selkirk Lighthouse sits at the mouth
of the Salmon River. Originally called the Salmon River Light Station, the
lighthouse was constructed in 1838 and remains today, complete with its original
style early lantern room. The spoon measures 6" long and is in marvelous
overall condition for its age, with surprisingly little surface wear from
decades of polishing. The gold washed bowl is engraved “Pulaski Lighthouse,
NY“ with “1900” on the handle back (rare to have a date engraved.). Nicely

c.1900. Attractive, stout creamer, featuring a detailed full color image of the “Light-House,
Biloxi, Miss”. A distinctive piece, featuring a fine, full color
image detailing the tall cast iron light tower, walkway and keeper’s dwelling
perched on the watery point. The Biloxi Lighthouse was one of three Mississippi
Sound Lighthouses authorized in 1847. Cast iron plates were bolted together to
form a metal wrapper around a brick liner. The tower was completed in the spring
of 1848. The creamer is of a classic style, enhanced by a short spout and handle
on top with a very pretty gilded borders and cobalt blue body color. Marked
“Wheelock China, Made in Germany for Biloxi Hardware Co., Biloxi, Miss.
Dresden”. This beautiful collector’s piece measures a full 3 ¾” high x 3
½” wide. This is a wonderful, early commemorative piece, clean and bright,

that I have had, this attractive plate has a quite detailed image as if from a
painting, of the 1889 Bibb #3 Type life-saving station. This beautiful display
piece measures 6 1/8” in diameter and is enhanced by a petite decorative trim
around the edge. Nice painting quality image makes this a striking piece. Not

[commemorative spoon] c. 1906. Beautiful large commemorative spoon with a copper
wash bears a detailed engraved image of the “Quonochontaug,
Rhode Island Life Saving Station” on the dish. This finely detailed
little piece shows a close view of the distinctive station with the crew and
boat on the ramp. One boat is pictured in the boat doorway, another at water's
edge and one on the ramp with six figures maneuvering it. The handle is Paye and
Baker's 1900 raised relief Pattern “Daphne”. The back is marked
“STERLING” and the trademark of Simmons & Baker, predecessor of Paye
& Baker. The gold washed bowl is engraved “I.F.L. Dec. 25, 1906 (rare to
have a date engraved.) Quonochontaug”. Measures 5 ¼” long and is in
excellent condition. Nicely detailed little commemorative piece and an extremely
rare and desirable location, commemorating this interesting life saving station.

featuring Life Saving Service images from the Monomoy area of Cape Cod are
extremely rare and desirable and we have been only able to find a few in our

(commemorative dish) One of the largest commemorative dishes or trays, a superb,
bright, white, gilt edged commemorative dish or tray featuring a beautiful
clear, detailed full b/w image of the “Ship Jason,
Wrecked Dec. 5, 1893 Cape Cod”. It was on the dreaded Peaked Hill
Bars that the terrible ocean tragedy, the wreck of the ship Jason, occurred in a
furious winter storm on December 5, 1893. The wreck of the Jason was one of the
most appalling disasters that has ever taken place on the shores of Cape Cod,
twenty-six lives being lost. Of the whole crew, Evans, the ship’s apprentice,
was the only person that managed to reach the shore. Dish features a large image
of the ship wrecked offshore as the life-saving crew rows out to the vessel.
Marked “Made in Germany for O. E. Kelley, Dennisport, Mass.” Piece measures
6 ½” x 9 ¾”, and with a ½” raised edge enhanced by a petite,

original twin octagional lighthouses on this spot were replaced by a new pair of
octagonal towers built on moveable foundations. In 1856 one of the lighthouses
was destroyed by fire and it was decided not to rebuild. The surviving

commemorative ink pen and spade features a beautiful b/w lithograph image of the
“Nubble Light House”, York, Maine.” A distinctive and pretty little piece,
the pen handle and spade is of hardwood, varnished and measures 9” long. The
pretty image on the spade end shows the tall iron light tower flanked by the
keeper’s house and skeleton bell tower on the rocky island outcrop. The pen
tip is of metal and is quite usable as an ink pen. Such wooden Victorian era

Head (Light House) Rockland, Maine.” This is one of the more
striking that I have found, featuring a very pretty and quite detailed image of
this light tower high upon the rocky ledge. The cup is of a classic style,
enhanced by a decorative handle with a very pretty gilt borders and fluted rim.
Not marked, pre 1900. This beautiful collector’s piece measures 2 5/8”
high x 2 ¾” in diameter. This is a wonderful, early commemorative
piece, clean and bright, an unusually striking display piece. Little if any

S. Lighthouse, Newport, Oregon.” c. 1900. One of only a few of this
light that I have had, this fairly large plate has a large 5 ½” full color
image of the tall masonry light tower beside the 2-story keeper’s dwelling,
barn and out-buildings. This detailed image shows the light tower and buildings
the ocean in the background. This pretty display piece measures 8 1/8” in
diameter and is enhanced by a decorative gilded and decorated edge. Nice bright,

B/w image is of the pier leading out toward the island and lighthouse where the famed heroine Ida Lewis grew up and performed so many daring rescues fills the body of the dish. Not marked, pre 1900. varnished and measures 2 ½” h x 2 ¼” dia. The pretty image shows the tall
Absecon light towers flanked by the U. S. Life Saving station and drill pole.
The top bears an original wine colored velvet pin cushion. Removing the top of
the “bucket” reveals a container for pins, thimble, etc. Such wooden
Victorian era commemorative pieces, known as Mauchlineware, are exceptionally
difficult to find and are beautiful for display. Also included is a vintage

Cape Cod Lighthouse Commemorative Plate [shown) This lighthouse plate is quite beautiful, and features five vintage images from original photographs, including Cape Cod [Highland) Light, Race Point Light, Long Point Light and Wood End Light. Also pictured is the Pilgrim Memorial Monument. The detailed images are of light blue on white hand crafted porcelain, with a beautiful, bright gilded border. This plate was made in 1996 and limited to about 350 pieces. This is a superb item for display or for gift giving and will certainly be a collectors’ item. 10 ½" diameter. (M). $66.
