Over 560 color photos illustrate this survey of souvenir plates dating back to the 1800s. The views of prominent potters such as Adams & Company, Wedgewood, and Wood and Sons are included. Short histories are provided for each manufacturers or importer to which specific views are attributed. A list of views is also provided, using the name given to the view by each manufacturer whenever possible, and including additional information on border designs, unusual features, color, and size when possible. Beautiful large commemorative spoon bears a detailed engraved image of the Life
Saving Station at Erie, Pennsylvania. The spoon features a
highly-detailed image of the 1875-style station located on the north side of the
entrance to Erie Harbor. The spoon measures 5 ¼” long and is in marvelous

This fairly large piece has a large 2 3/8” full color image of the tall Duluth-type station that was constructed in 1897. The detailed image shows the entire station including the porch, boat ramp and drill pole. This item is quite attractive and unusual, with deep cobalt blue color and gilded trim. 20402. [paperweight] Heavy glass rectangular paperweight featuring an early c.1900 photograph of U.S. Life Saving Station. This rare item features a close photograph of the modified Port Huron Type station, possibly the Damiscove Island LSS, Maine. Visible are members of the crew with finely dressed ladies seated next to the double boatroom doors. Photo remains clear and sharp, overall in excellent condition. 2 ½” x 4” x ¾” h. Point Lighthouse, 2054. [paperweight] Heavy glass paperweight featuring an early c.1890 photograph of "Life-Saving Station, Salisbury Beach, Mass." This rare item features a nice detailed sepia photo image of the Keeper and crew posed on the boat-ramp with their beach apparatus cart and surfboat. The crew is poised with the pull ropes over their shoulder while their pet dog sits faithfully at their feet. Quite rare early Life-Saving Service image and collectible, clear, crisp. One of only a few of this light that I have had, this unusual piece has a large 2 ½” color image of the light on the tall rock island. This pretty display piece measures 6 ¼” wide and is enhanced by a decorative gilded and decorated edge. Marked “Made in Germany [for] John G. Niemi, Astoria, Oregon.”. Superb bright white souvenir dish, featuring a close and detailed image of “Scituate Light, Home of Rebecca and Abigail Bates Heroines of the War of 1812.” Dish features a large, detailed b/w image of the old abandoned light attached to the Keeper’s dwelling in the center, surrounded by a decorative rim enhanced by gilt borders. Back marked “Made in Germany for Chas. W. Frye, Scituate, MA .” This striking collectible measures 5 ½” x 4” oval and would enhance any display. Unusually bright, clean, a beautiful piece. Special early hand-painted plate features a beautiful full color image of the long pier leading to the lighthouse with the fort visible in the background. Beautiful clear image shows the tall masonry tower and pier in exquisite detail, surrounded by the ocean in shades of browns and blues and enhanced by a gilded rim. Little if any wear to image but some wear to gilding on rim. This piece is marked “Wheelock Made in Germany for Jules Wendell & Son, Oswego, N.Y.” Measures 6” diameter. Superb detail. S. Lighthouse, Newport, Oregon.” c. 1900. One of only a few of this
light that I have had, this fairly large plate has a large 3 ½” full color
image of the tall masonry light tower beside the 2-story keeper’s dwelling,
barn and out-buildings. This detailed image shows the light tower and buildings
the ocean in the background. This pretty display piece measures 7 ½” in
diameter and is enhanced by a decorative gilded and rose decorated edge. Nice

2801. (commemorative spoon) c. 1900. Beautiful, bold, silver spoon bears an engraved image of “The [Coquile River] Light House, Bandon, Oregon.” on the dish. This finely detailed piece shows the tall 1891 masonry light tower with attached fog signal building. The 5 ¼” inch spoon boasts a heavy molded handle with Oregon seal and spruce tree. Marked “sterling”. This is one of the nicer pieces, a beautiful, finely detailed commemorative piece and a most rare item for the lighthouse spoon collector. (VG+). $74 net. 27363.
(commemorative mauchlineware letter holder) c.1900. Superb, rare wooden
Victorian letter holder features a beautiful b/w lithograph image of the “Grindle
Point Light House, Isleboro, Me.” A pretty little piece meant to
hand on the wall to hold letter mail is of hardwood, varnished and measures 5 ½”
high x 5” wide. The pretty image shows the tall square masonry light
tower, keeper’s dwelling and fog signal bell perched on the rock shore. Such
wooden Victorian era commemorative pieces, known as Mauchlineware, are
exceptionally difficult to find and are beautiful for display. Clean, some light

detailed raised relief image of the Tillamook Rock
Lighthouse, Astoria, Oregon. The spoon features a highly-detailed
image of the lighthouse perched high upon Tillamook Rock. The spoon measures 5
1/8” long and is in marvelous overall condition for its age. Marked
“Copyrighted Sterling”. Nicely detailed little commemorative piece and an
extremely rare and desirable location, commemorating this important station.

c.1900. Superb large creamer, featuring a detailed full color image of Portland
Head Light [house], Portland, Me. This is one of the more striking
that I have found, featuring a very pretty and quite detailed full color image
of this tall masonry tower, with the keeper’s dwelling and fog signal building
perched on the rocky point. The creamer is of a classic style, enhanced by a
short spout and handle on top with a very pretty gilt borders and trim. Marked
“Made in Germany for J. R. Libby Co., Portland, Maine.” This beautiful
collector’s piece measures 5” high x 3” in diameter. This is a
wonderful, early commemorative piece, clean and bright, striking. With slight

of the 1908 Petersons Point-style station that served for years and is today a

(commemorative plate) c.1900. Superb bright white souvenir plate, featuring a
close and detailed image of “Old 27169. (commemorative spoon) c.1900.
Beautiful large commemorative spoon bears a detailed engraved image of the Light
House at Pulaski, New York. The spoon is engraved “1900” and
features a highly-detailed engraved image of the striking stone keeper’s
dwelling with the rooftop lantern room. The Selkirk Lighthouse sits at the mouth
of the Salmon River. Originally called the Salmon River Light Station, the
lighthouse was constructed in 1838 and remains today, complete with its original
style early lantern room. The spoon measures 6" long and is in marvelous
overall condition for its age, with surprisingly little surface wear from
decades of polishing. The gold washed bowl is engraved “Pulaski Lighthouse,
NY“ with “1900” on the handle back (rare to have a date engraved.). Nicely
detailed little commemorative piece and an extremely rare and desirable
location, commemorating this interesting early light station. (VG). $118 net. 26311.

plate featuring a bright, colorful image of the “Old
Lighthouse, Manitowoc, Wisc." c. 1900. One of only a few
of this area that I have had, this fairly large plate has a large 3 ½” full
color image on white of the light tower and nearby 1 ½ story keeper’s
dwelling. This rare display piece measures 5 7/8” in diameter and is enhanced
by a decorative lace design and gilding around the edge. Nice detailed
image but there is some light overall wear. Marked “Wheelock Made in Germany
[for) O. Torrison Co., Manitowoc, Wis. Weimar”. Clean, overall light edge

(souvenir dish) c.1900. Exquisite bright, detailed pin dish features a
detailed b/w image of “Plum Island Light” House,
Newburyport, Mass. Dish measures 5 1/8” square with clipped corners
and provides a striking contrast to the large detailed image. In 1838 the
original twin octagional lighthouses on this spot were replaced by a new pair of
octagonal towers built on moveable foundations. In 1856 one of the lighthouses
was destroyed by fire and it was decided not to rebuild. The surviving
lighthouse received a fourth order Fresnel lens and remains today. Marked Made
in Austria [for) Chas. Emmerson & Sons, Importers, Haverhill, Mass.

The attractive piece is petite, measuring 3” high and is enhanced by a
beautiful decorative gilt trim on the rim and handle. The bright image includes
good detail of the Victorian lighthouse perched on the rocky spit. Labeled
"Made in Germany", the piece is very clean and bright, little if any
wear to image and gilt trim. A very detailed, pretty little item for your

featuring a beautiful full color image of the “North
Head Light-House, Mouth of the Columbia River [Washington).”. This
unusual item is quite attractive and bears a fine, close, full color image of
the tall old lighthouse tower with entrance building, and two out-buildings.
Holder is quite bright and distinctive, and measures a full 3 ¾” high
by 3” in diameter, and is enhanced by a decorative gilt trim around the
image and rim. Labeled “(Made for) H. A. Vincent, Ilwaco and Long Beach,
Wash”. Clean, no cracks, one slight chip inside rim but not noticeable. A very

1900. Beautiful silver spoon bears an image of “ 2165b, c. (souvenir cup) A stout, bright, gilt decorated commemorative cup in crème and white, featuring a detailed, clear, full color image of the "The Lighthouse, Ten Pound Island, Gloucester, Mass.". Quite rare and distinctive, the cup measures 2 ¾" tall and is enhanced by decorative gilt framing around the image, and gilt border around the petite handle and rim. The very fine, detailed color image is one of the nicer ones that I have seen, and shows the light tower with attached 1 ½ story keeper’s dwelling on the rocky point on Ten Pound Island. Shown quite close, the image is beautifully done and quite attractive in shades of blues, greens, reds and browns. "Made in Germany." Clean, bright, most difficult to find. (VG+). $68 net. 20215b. [paperweight) Heavy glass paperweight featuring an early c.1890 photograph of "Point Judith Lighthouse, R. I." This rare item features a nice detailed sepia image of the masonry light tower, 1 ½-story keeper’s dwelling and nearby fog signal building surrounded by a white board fence.
